We represented homeowners who had been forced to purchase flood, hazard or wind insurance by Citibank. Plaintiffs alleged that Defendants violated their mortgage contracts by requiring homeowners to purchase excess flood insurance coverage and by placing insurance through affiliated insurers in exchange for kickbacks, all of which caused harm to Plaintiffs and the classes. In 2014, the court approved a settlement with Citibank, valued at $110 million, that also included numerous changes to Citibank’s force placed insurance practices.
